This weekend the Institute of Salesian Studies (ISS) in Berkeley, CA, hosted 6 candidates who were furthering their process of discernment in becoming Salesian Lay Missioners for the 2010-2011 year. While on the weekend, the candidates learned about who Don Bosco and the Salesians are, the Salesian Oratory Criteria,
Catholic Social Teachings, and also learned of the different placement opportunities within the SLM program. Presenters included: Fr. John Roche SDB, Fr. Joe Boenzi SDB, Juan Carlos Montenegro, and Megan Fraino. The candidates gathered some hefty miles in getting to the weekend, someone driving over 20 hours to get there! The candidates in attendance were:
